This seems like a decent place to eat if you want something sort of fancy. You can tell that they care about the food they make. The restaurant has a nice and relaxing vibe to it, and there's plenty of space if you have a large party. Plan ahead if you do have a large party because anything more than 20 and you are practically shutting the place down. The food on average takes about 20-25 minutes to come out, just a heads up. They make just about every dish from scratch. The service was decent, but they needed more than 2 people to work the tables. Go here if you want something casual or a nice dinner date.

WARNING: My wife and I are southerners from Alabama and Georgia.

Good food (calamari tasted like rubber), terrible wine selection. Definitely will not revisit.

One of my favorite restaurants in Brandywine. When we lived in the area we came at least monthly. Have never had a bad meal here, but most of the sides are just alright. The cornbread, on the other hand, is DELICIOUS. As is the peach cobbler. It’s never too crowded either which is convenient.

Good looking room. However, with only two tables seated with customers, It took over ten minutes to seat a table for seven. The servers was very good, however, and this an important point, THEY DID NOT HAVE MOST OF THE WINE ON THE MENUE. In fact, the wine menue is a joke. It assumes that black people are not discriminating when it comes to wine and food. For example, I could order a bottle of Moet, but my other wine choices, both red and white, retail for about ten dollars and are mostly on the sweet side

I thought the smothered chicken and rice wasn't bad at all. The chicken was moist and tender. In addition, the chicken was smothered but not to the point the texture of the chicken was soggy. I thought the macaroni was good but my wife looked at me and said, "It's not bad but doesn't beat my grandma's!" The southern fried chicken was just okay (nothing special here). The cabbages were just okay (nothing special), I would have like a little flavor from bacon or a hammock to really bring out its potential. The potato salad was just okay (nothing special here). The PEACH COBBLER is GOOD and I understand why it's their #1 seller.

(3) Professionalism -We noticed the hostess was stuffing her face while trying to seat incoming guest that walked in. I saw customers who were seated waiting for a while before someone attended their table to serve them. However, the bartender that night was very nice and complimentary as we waited 45 minutes for our food to be ready.

Literally the best "soul food" I've had in the area for a while. The atmosphere is great and the food matches. My only complaint was the last time I went my glass was seriously dirty with lipstick but I've went a couple of times and didn't have that problem so I'll assume it was a 1 time thing . Headed there now actually. I recommend it to everyone when I get a chance. I love any well kept black own business!

(1) Atmosphere - We must admit this place has a jazz vibe too it. The place is sort of small but it has a nice ambiance.

(4) Food - We ordered the southern smothered chicken (1/4 white meat) which comes with rice/gravy and two sides; which were macaroni & cheese and cabbage. Also, we ordered the southern fried chicken with two sides; which were macaroni & cheese and potato salad. Lastly, for dessert we tried the peach cobbler which is their top seller.

(2) Time- The wait time we were told to be seated at a table would be between 10 to 15 minutes but it was much longer than that (i.e., 25 to 30 minutes). So, we decided to order carry out which took 35 to 45 minutes. Overall, we waited over an hour for our food which is UNACCEPTABLE.
